Back Training Tips

Squeeze:
The most important thing to do on every rep of every set of every back workout is to squeeze it. Most of the time the reason you can't grow your back is because you can't feel it. Hold the contracted position of each back lift for one second and if you still can't feel your back working you are probably still performing the movement incorrectly.

Visualize:
The mind is just as important as the body when lifting. Because you can't see your back working you have to imagine it working. Before you start your back workout start to visualize your exercises, see your back squeezing, visualize what you want your back to look like.

Use Straps:
A lot of the time when you can't feel your back working it's because your forearms and biceps are giving out and fatiguing much earlier than your back is. It's pays off to invest in a good pair of weight lifting straps.

Choose Your Weight Wisely:
If your training swinging your body on every rep while training back, compromising your form then you are using way to much weight with your exercises. That is a big reason why people can't feel their back working. I know that once you hit a certain weight with things, you can't help but swing a little but keep it too a minimum. Lift a weight that you can really feel back working on each rep. It'll make all the difference.

Improve Arm Strength:
Improve all of your forearm numbers and bicep numbers and I promise that they will translate to better back exercises. You use your forearms and biceps a lot while training back. The problem is that your biceps and forearms are not as strong as your back. Work on these body parts up, especially your forearms. Train grip exercises if you want to aid your back training. By training your grip you can hold onto the bar longer therefore making your back work longer. Improve your bicep and forearm strength. It'll translate to better back training.
