Next MD Cover: Jay Cutler, Bodybuilder of the Decade!

Bodybuilding is a subjective sport, and sometimes there is not universal agreement who should take first place or go home with the Sandow. Looking at the amazing career four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler, one thing becomes crystal clear – his stunning competitive record has earned him the title of “Bodybuilder of the Decade.” Jay is a legend, an all-time great along with Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman, Lee Haney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. We’re proud to feature Jay on this Month’s cover and have him as a member of Team MD –and to share his story of supreme perseverance while becoming the most financially successful bodybuilder in history.

Bodybuilding historian Peter McGough – one of bodybuilding’s best writers, with over 25 years experience in bodybuilding journalism – looks at Jay’s career in “Jay Cutler: Bodybuilder of the Decade” . The facts are amazing: from 2001 through 2011, Jay competed in 10 Mr. Olympia contests and finished in the top two on every occasion. In all 23 contests he competed in from 2001 through 2011, Jay was either first or second. That level of longevity excellence has never been achieved by any bodybuilder. Through it all, Jay has been a magnificent ambassador for bodybuilding, and has done more for the sport than anyone else.

Like all great warriors, Jay never gives up. His first Olympia victory came after four second places; no previous winner had that “close but no Sandow” runner-up record before earning the title. Jay is the only man to lose his Mr. Olympia title (in 2008 to Dexter Jackson) and return to win it again in 2009. He is the only competitor to win three successive Arnold Classics, from 2002-2004. Those are the stats bearing testimony to Jay being the greatest bodybuilder of the past decade.

Jay is “the” bodybuilder who made the best of inherent genetics, harnessed it with iron willpower and fanatical dedication to beat others more naturally blessed in DNA stakes. He works his ass off for what he wants, and everything he’s achieved thus far, he’s earned. Jay has the genetic structure he outsize’s everybody. As wide as a house and with jaw dropping width, he is thick, dense, and larger than life. Jay’s mass is obvious from his gargantuan, flaring quads, wide back and thick chest.

Jay has the drive and work ethic to do anything. After bicep surgery this past February, he’s looking to return to this year’s Olympia and take home Sandow number five. Can Jay do it? If anyone can come back, it’s him! -

This is true. Jay Cutler is the bodybuilder of the decade. The only man to finish Top 2 at the Olympia for 10 years in a row. That's impressive all on its own. We saw Jay challenge everybody from Ronnie to Levrone & whomever else in a decade. I'm a Cutler fan & I hope to see him win number 5 this year in Vegas.
