Making Changes

Many people are ready to make changes all of the time, unnecessarily which ultimately does one of 2 things:

1. Makes the plan unmeasurable because you haven't had time to see what does and doesn't work
2. Leads you down a path which leads to stagnation with nowhere to go

On top of that, you'll also be left very frustrated and fed up.

So what is the key to making the correct changes at the right time?

Stats

What do your stats say? Have you lost weight this week and have you been 100% committed to the plan? If there has been no weight loss and you've been consistent, then maybe try another 2-4 days and see if there's any movement before making changes. This is a GRADUAL process remember.

Don't be drastic

When you do make changes they don't need to be drastic. For instance, going from cardio for 20 minutes 3 times a week to cardio 7 days a week for 75 minutes a day is crazy, but people do this. YES, you will see things move once you do this but when you hit the next sticking point where do you go from here? Also, it needs to be maintainable and realistic for you to make it a habit. This ensures the results stay!

Photos

Always encourage people to keep progress photos, these are the best form of feedback because they don't lie, so keep updating these in a file and looking for small positive changes. This should help keep you grounded and less likely to make crazy unnecessary drastic changes.

Second opinion

Sometimes have someone look over your program, diet and progress stats/photos can help provided they know what they are looking at and are also level headed. What I will say is whoever you choose to listen to, follow that through and don't start listening to too many opinions otherwise that will complicate things for you. Sometimes someone with experience in your gym is enough, just to confirm you've made some positive changes.

Remember, keep it simple, don't overcomplicate things and don't take drastic measures.
