I'm going to teach you about using carb cycling to build muscle today.
Carb cycling is NOT just for fat loss, not at all.
Here are 3 KEY reasons why carb cycling is very good for building muscle.
1. Fuel as needed
By using a carb cycling format for mass you are putting in fuel when it is NEEDED. I see so many people force excessive calories in to try and put size on and end up getting fat! Let me tell you this getting too fat will NOT help you build muscle.
. Heightened rate of aromatisation will occur as your body fat goes up, due to the fact the aromatase enzyme lives in fat cells. More fat, more estrogen and less testosterone. NOT f***ing good!!
. Insulin resistance can begin to set in as you get fat which is going to get in the way of your journey to added size. Insulin resistance will mean your going to start to struggle to utilize nutrients properly which is not good when you consider your calorie intake is now high due to your goals!
Therefore by cycling your carbs when building size you are able to pick when is the best time to put fuel into the body and when its time to back off a bit in order to avoid unwanted body fat gain.
2. Gut performance
Depending on your calorie intake you will sometimes find as it goes up you struggle to digest the food properly. This is another great reason to rotate your calorie and carb intake to allow the gut to settle on the lower days. The reality is you don't want to be eating more food than you NEED to, in order to grow beyond a certain point.
3. Room for more
Very much in the same way you want to eat as much as possible whilst still losing fat on a cutting phase, you want to in theory eat as little as possible whilst gaining size. By doing this you have MORE room to add food in when its needed, for instance when you have hit a plateau. By having your lower days there's room to bring calories up on these days before going even higher on your "high" days.
The reality is there's often many good reasons to have low, medium and high days for both fat loss AND building muscle.
