Pec Deck: Great For Chest or Shoulder Joint Problems
The machine fly can be either a great pec exercise or terrible for your shoulders. The difference maker is your brain. If you keep your shoulders back and down, and use the pecs to perform the movement, the shoulder integrity is sound, and the stimulus is great. If you let the shoulder go forward and use the front delts and leverage to perform the movement, the chest gets minimal tension and the shoulder joint gets a lot of sheer. Often times you have to work backwards, dropping your weight significantly to master this. But once you do, you have another great hypertrophy movement for pecs. That opens the possibilities for drop sets, partials and tons of fun and pain.
