What’s up MD?!
I’m currently six weeks out from IFBB Optimum Classic Shreveport,
Louisiana. I’m doing this show because I feel that these promoters need
people to show up to their shows! Being a relatively big name in the
212, I feel I can bring something.
No matter the outcome of that show, I’m doing the New York pro no
matter what! I figured, why not do a show the week before, when I’m in
shape anyway?! I’m there to support other shows. Those promoters can’t
make money if we don’t show up!
Besides, I like to travel, and I’ve never been there. I’ve seen a lot
of things doing bodybuilding work. I’m hoping to see some southern
bodybuilders support this show like Charles and Tricky, and I hope
there’s a really good turnout!
You now, we as competitors can complain all we want about the prize
money not being enough, or there’s not enough shows, but these promoters
are putting on shows with only four guys showing up. Come on! There’s
no excuse for that!
As far as why this show, and not one right after the Olympia? It’s
all about the timing. The beginning of the year, I can’t rationalize.
It’s too soon. I need an off season. After the Olympia, I didn’t touch a
weight, count a calorie, or take a supplement till January! I used
September through January 1 to clean out and rest my system.
Your top guys won’t be ready for a show in March or before. The goal
is to make improvements and win the Olympia. We need that time off to do
it. But now I’m back full swing and ready for my first contest of the
season!
